How We Grow
No matter where you are in your career, you will still grow at Work.Life
How We Grow
People join Work.Life at different stages of their careers, but there is a shared expectation that time here will move them forward.
Growth does not sit in one place. It comes through the work itself, through interactions with others, through exposure to our members, and through the pace and complexity of a scaling business.
A lot of it is built in the day-to-day. Being trusted with responsibility, navigating change, learning from those around you, and being supported by managers who are expected to coach and empower your growth.
-
Career Development Framework
Our Career Development Framework and Philosophy provides a clear view of what strong performance looks like at each level.
It helps people understand where they are today, what is expected of them, and what they need to develop to progress. It is also designed to support conversations with managers, giving structure to discussions around growth and next steps.
-
Internal Mobility
Growth does not always mean moving up. Sometimes it means moving across.
We encourage people to explore opportunities in different parts of the business when they arise. Our internal mobility approach is designed to make that visible and accessible, giving people the confidence to raise their hand and try something new.
-
Talent Marketplace
Alongside formal roles, we are building a Talent Marketplace.
This is a space where people can get involved in projects across the business, contribute their skills in new areas, and build experience beyond their core role. It allows individuals to stretch themselves, while supporting wider business needs.
-
Manager Coaching
A large part of how people grow comes down to the quality of management they experience.
Managers at Work.Life are supported through monthly/bi-monthly coaching sessions with the People team, focused on how to better support their teams, navigate challenges, and develop their own approach.
They also come together in Manager Summits, creating space to align, share experiences, and learn from each other.
-
Internal Mentorship
We are also working towards launching an internal mentorship platform.
This will create opportunities for people to connect across the business, build relationships, and learn from others’ experiences. It is another way of recognising that growth often happens through conversation and shared perspective.
-
Leadership development
We are developing Leadership.Life, a programme designed to support managers in becoming effective leaders within the context of Work.Life.
It focuses on how to lead in a way that reflects our values, supports performance, and builds strong, accountable teams.
Performance & Growth Conversations
-
Quarterly Conversations
Performance and growth conversations happen quarterly, creating consistent touchpoints across the year. This means development is not left to a single annual review, but shaped through regular check-ins that keep progress visible and grounded. It allows people to adjust, refine, and stay aligned as priorities evolve.
-
Focused on what comes next
These conversations are designed with a forward-looking mindset. They reflect on what has happened, but their real value sits in what comes next. Each discussion is an opportunity to build on strengths, address gaps, and agree clear steps that move you further in your development.
-
Progress that builds over time
Growth here is cumulative. Each conversation adds another layer of clarity, helping you understand your trajectory and what is required to keep progressing. Over time, this creates a sense of direction and momentum, where development feels continuous rather than occasional.
