Management Accountant
Salary
Our expected range to hire within is £45-50k.
The Role
This is a hands-on role at the heart of a lean finance team at Work.Life. You'll own the month-end close and management accounts, support site-level and board reporting, and partner with operations and leadership to turn the numbers into decisions – on pricing, occupancy, costs and new sites.
It suits someone who enjoys both the challenge of a tight month-end and the commercial conversations that follow it.
What You’ll Do:
Month-end and management accounts
• Own the monthly close to a tight timetable, including accruals, prepayments, deferred income and balance sheet reconciliations
• Own the monthly management accounts, with clear commentary on performance against budget, forecast and prior year
• Produce site-by-site P&Ls and contribution analysis across the portfolio
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including fit-out capex and depreciation
• Account for leases and landlord arrangements correctly (FRS 102 / IFRS 16 as applicable), including management agreements and revenue-share deals
Reporting and KPIs
• Contribute to the KPI pack: occupancy, revenue per desk / sq ft, membership revenue, churn, meeting room and ancillary income, and site margins
• Help build and improve dashboards and reporting so the business can self-serve key metrics
• Help prepare board and investor reporting packs for the Finance Director / Finance Controller
Budgeting, forecasting and planning
• Support the annual budget process, working with site and operations managers
• Help maintain the rolling and cash flow forecasts
• Support new-site appraisals and business cases with financial modelling and post-investment reviews
Business partnering
• Partner with operations, sales and community teams – explaining variances and helping them take action
• Analyse pricing, discounting and cost-to-serve to protect and improve margins
• Challenge spend and identify cost savings across utilities, cleaning, facilities and suppliers
Controls and systems
• Own and strengthen financial controls, processes and month-end efficiency
• Prepare the year-end audit file and support statutory accounts preparation
• Prepare VAT returns and support other compliance as required
• Contribute to systems improvements and automation across the finance stack
• Support B Corp impact reporting where finance data is needed
About You

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, or a finalist
• [2–4] years' experience in management accounting, ideally in a multi-site business

• Advanced Excel – comfortable building models, lookups and pivots
• Clear communicator who can explain numbers to non-finance colleagues
• Organised, accurate and able to hit deadlines
Desirable
• Experience in flexible workspace, real estate, hospitality or another multi-site, recurring-revenue business
• Knowledge of lease accounting (FRS 102 / IFRS 16)
• Experience with NetSuite
• Confident using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to speed up analysis and reporting
• Experience in a scale-up or PE / investor-backed environment
Personal qualities
• Commercially curious – asks "why" behind the numbers
• Proactive about improving processes, not just running them
• Collaborative and approachable, in keeping with our people-first culture
• Comfortable with pace and change in a growing business
